Rancho Cucamonga, CA – The Lake Elsinore Storm scored four times in the sixth inning to earn their first win of the series, rallying for a 6-3 win over the Quakes at LoanMart Field on Thursday night.

A three-run homer from Oswaldo Linares was the back-breaker, as his second round-tripper of the year proved to be the go-ahead game-winner, giving Lake Elsinore their first lead of the series and ending Rancho's three-game winning streak.

Sam Mongelli broke up a pitcher’s duel in the fifth with his first home run in his pro career, giving Rancho a 1-0 lead over eventual winner Fernando Sanchez (3-6).

In the top of the sixth, the Storm got to Rancho’s Jon Edwards. With the bases loaded and two outs, Edwards (2-3) fired a wild pitch with Linares at bat, as Rosman Verdugo scampered home to tie the game at 1-1. Linares followed a few pitches later with the three-run blast to give Elsinore a 4-1 lead.

The Quakes immediately responded in the bottom of the inning against Storm reliever Kobe Robinson. Jesus Galiz and Joe Vetrano had back-to-back RBI hits, making it 4-3.

That’s as close as the Quakes would get though, as the Storm got insurance runs in the eighth and ninth, respectively, taking a 6-3 lead.

Rancho’s offense went hitless over the final two innings, as Ruben Galindo earned his second save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

The Quakes (23-27, 62-55) will send Gabe Emmett (6-7) to the mound on Friday night, as he’ll take on Braden Nett (0-0) of the Storm at 6:30pm. Friday is Allstar Kia Night, with Will Smith Bobbleheads to be given away to 1,500 fans in attendance. Gates open at 5:30pm and tickets are available at rcquakes.com...Go Quakes!
